2 Day Jim Corbett Itinerary: Plan a Resort Stay | Evara

How to Plan a 2-Day Jim Corbett Resort Stay (A Simple, Realistic Itinerary)

There's a particular kind of tiredness that only a city can give you. Back-to-back meetings, traffic, and a phone that never stops buzzing. If that sounds familiar, a 2 day Jim Corbett itinerary might be exactly what you need for a refreshing weekend break.

The good news is that you don't need a week off. A well-planned weekend is enough to experience the forest at first light, enjoy peaceful surroundings, and still be home by Sunday night. The trick is planning your stay and activities in a way that saves time on the road and avoids unnecessary waiting.

This guide covers how to choose the right place to stay, what to book in advance, and how to make the most of two days in Jim Corbett without rushing. At Evara Spa & Resort, our travel desk helps guests arrange safari bookings throughout the year, making their forest getaway easier to plan.

Is 2 Days Enough for Jim Corbett?

Honestly, yes, as long as you set realistic expectations.

Two days won't let you cover every zone of the park, and that's fine. What it gives you is time for two safaris, one slow morning, a few good meals and some proper rest. For first-time visitors, couples and families with limited leave, that's a very satisfying trip.

One practical note: a "2-day" trip can mean one night or two. One night works if you leave Delhi early on day one. Two nights is more relaxed, especially if you want to do both a jeep safari and a quieter nature morning. We've written the plan below so it works for either.

Before You Go: The Three Things to Sort Out First

A good Corbett trip is decided before you leave home. Get these three right and the rest falls into place.

1. Book the safari permit early

This is the one that catches people out. Safari permits are limited, and weekends, Diwali, Christmas and New Year fill up quickly. As a rule, book 10 to 15 days ahead, and earlier for peak dates. You'll also need to carry the original photo ID used on the permit, because the gate won't accept anything else.

If you're staying with us, our Jim Corbett safari desk can check zone availability and book the permit and jeep for you, so you aren't wrestling with websites.

2. Pick a resort that's close to the gate

Corbett mornings start early. Safari timings in winter (November to February) run roughly 6:30 to 9:30 AM, and in summer they start even earlier. A long transfer in the dark means a very early alarm.

Evara is about 4 km from the Dhangarhi gate and around 12 km from Bijrani, so mornings are a lot calmer. You can see exactly how to get here on our location page.

3. Choose the right room for the kind of trip you want

This depends on who's travelling.

You can compare every category on our accommodations page.

Your 2 Day Jim Corbett Itinerary

Here's the day-by-day plan we usually suggest. Shift the timings to suit your own pace.

Day 1: Arrive, Settle In, Slow Down

Early morning: leave Delhi The drive is about 245 km and takes roughly six hours via Hapur, Moradabad and Kashipur. Leaving around 6 or 7 AM gets you to the resort for lunch. If you're coming by train, the overnight Ranikhet Express reaches Ramnagar station, about 15 km away. Pantnagar airport is around 85 km. We can arrange transfers with 24 hours' notice.

1:00 PM: check in and lunch Check-in starts at 1 PM. Drop your bags, wander the lawns for a bit and sit down for a proper meal at Evara Restaurant. The kitchen covers North Indian, South Indian, Chinese and Continental, and Jain, vegan and allergy-specific meals are made on request. Just mention it when you book.

Afternoon: ease in Don't over-schedule the first afternoon. Take a dip in the pool (open 8 AM to 8 PM), or book a treatment at the spa to shake off the drive. The Ayurvedic therapies like Abhyanga and Shirodhara are popular after a long journey. If you've arrived early and have a permit for the afternoon slot, this is also when you can head out for a first safari.

Evening: bonfire and an early night Most evenings the bonfire is lit, with a Kumaoni folk singer and endless chai, weather permitting. Have an early dinner and get to bed. Tomorrow's alarm is early.

Day 2: The Forest at First Light

5:30 to 6:00 AM: wake up and layer up It's properly cold at 6:30 AM in winter, so wear layers you can take off as the sun rises. Muted colours like olive, brown and grey are best. Skip white and bright shades. Pack binoculars if you have them, and don't forget your original photo ID.

Morning: jeep safari Your jeep leaves from the resort with a packed breakfast. Sit quietly and let the guide do the work. Experienced guides listen for alarm calls from deer and langurs long before you see anything. Sightings are never guaranteed, but the forest is worth the drive on its own: sal trees, birdsong, mist over the grass.

Late morning: breakfast, then the rest of the day Back at the resort, there's a full breakfast waiting (breakfast is included for every guest). From here, you have two good options:

  • Option A: a second safari. If you're staying two nights, the afternoon slot (roughly 1:30 to 4:30 PM in winter) gives you another chance. Doing two safaris instead of one really does improve your odds.
  • Option B: a Sitabani morning. This one needs no park permit. It's about 5 km from the resort, with a quiet temple, some of the best birding around Corbett and a waterfall on the way back. It makes a lovely alternative if permits are sold out, or if you want something gentler.

Afternoon: keep it easy Check-out is at 11 AM, so if you'd like a longer day, ask the desk about late check-out when you book. Otherwise, pack up, enjoy a last lunch and begin the drive home. If you're staying a second night, spend the afternoon on the resort's free activities: cycling through the village, cricket on the lawn, pool, or a game of snooker.

What to Pack for a Corbett Weekend

You don't need much, but a few things make a real difference:

  • Warm layers for early mornings (even in what feels like mild weather)
  • Neutral-coloured clothes for safari
  • Original photo ID for permits
  • Binoculars and a zoom lens if you're into wildlife photography
  • Sunscreen, a cap and a water bottle
  • A change of clothes if you plan to dip in the Sitabani waterfall
  • Comfortable shoes for walking around the property

Best Time for a 2 Day Jim Corbett Trip

Each season gives you something different.

Winter (November to February): cold mornings, clear skies and comfortable days. Great for birdwatching and a relaxing resort stay.

Summer (March to June): hot, but animals gather around water, which can help with sightings. Safaris start earlier, around 5:30 AM.

Monsoon: much of the park's tourism zones close for the season, so check availability before planning around safaris. The resort itself is lush and quiet, if you're after a slow break.

Park zones open and close on the forest department's schedule, and timings shift seasonally, so confirm current availability with our desk before you finalise dates.

Tips to Make the Most of Your Two Days

  1. Do two safaris if you can. One drive is a coin toss. Two give you a much better chance.
  2. Book the morning slot in winter. It generally beats the afternoon.
  3. Stay quiet and still in the jeep. Wildlife notices movement and noise.
  4. Trust your guide over the internet. Local knowledge beats any sighting map.
  5. Keep a buffer day if you can. Even one extra night makes the trip feel unhurried.
  6. Don't plan every hour. The best part of a resort stay is having time to do nothing.

Travelling With Family or Kids?

Corbett works well for families, especially if you balance the early safari with plenty of downtime. At Evara, children can head to the Kids Play Zone, and there are free indoor and outdoor games across the lawns. Keep the safari to one or two slots, and let the kids burn off energy at the pool the rest of the time.

Why Stay at a Resort Instead of Just Booking a Safari?

You can, of course, treat Corbett as a day trip. But a resort stay changes the trip in small ways that add up:

  • You're rested and fed before the early start
  • Your safari booking, permit and transfers are handled in one place
  • There's something to do in the hours between drives
  • The evenings are as memorable as the mornings

Evara sits on six acres at the edge of the forest, so even before you reach the park you've already got the sal trees, the birds and the quiet.
